Posted on: Apr 1st, 2011

The 12th ORBIS Charity Walk for Sight was held at "The Hong Kong International School" in Tai Tam Country Park on March 27th 2011. Over 4,000 people were involved in the charity event to give their support to the people who are visually impaired. Our philosophy at Ming Fai is to support worthy social causes and to give back to the society.

It was a cool spring day in the morning of March 27th; all of Ming Fai's attendees were in their custom designed t-shirts and were anxious to start the charity walk. At the opening ceremony, ORBIS spokesmen and Star Zhang Jichong, Meng Jiahui went on stage to lead the attendees to a warm-up routine. The whole event was filled with laughter from start to finish and created a memorable experience for all who attended.

After the marathon, they started the "Visually impaired experience". They brought participants to a wide open park, where the participant's eyes were covered with blindfolds, for those few minutes they could only experience the world by smells and sounds, just as if they were visually impaired. After this experience, participants had more sympathy to the people who live in that environment everyday.

As an independent nonprofit and nonpolitical organization, ORBIS was founded in 1982, and its over 600 professional eye doctors from 29 countries had visited over 70 countries and places, enabling the 20,000 visually impaired men to recover their eyesight, and not only this, but more than 30,000 eye-doctors and nurses had been trained by them to offer care to the visually impaired individual.

Ming Fai Group has always believed in giving back to the society. From organizing to participating in charity events that would give back to the society, Ming Fai Group and our team will make it one of our goals to give back to the society.
