Mission Hills celebrated the opening of 2008 Omega Mission Hills World Cup on Wednesday, November 26, 2008. The 54th World Cup took place from November 27 to November 30 at Mission Hills in Shenzhen, China. 28 countries competed and each country sent two players to this great event.

This competition was another important event after 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. "3 months ago, the Beijing Olympic Games brought the world to China and China to world. With the best, two-man teams from 28 nations here at Mission Hills this week to compete for the World Cup; the Omega Mission Hills World Cup is bringing the world's attention to China once again this year." said Dr. David Chu, Chairman of the Mission Hills Golf Club. This competition reflected the continued growth of golf in China and its global sporting prominence.
